Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s Next President?

My friend called me on Saturday and he said, “What we are going to do about 2019?” The first thought that came to my mind was, “I will be running my MBA ”. However, taking a deep reflection, I remembered that 2019 will be a defining moment for Nigeria. It is a period in which we cannot afford to fail and yet somewhat in my mind, I am of the opinion that we are on the verge of failing already.

Unfortunately for us as a nation, 2019 election might be the worst that we will ever experience. This is because the options that will be presented to us are more likely to be saddening of which we will just have to settle for the lesser evil.

I am indeed scared of the future and I know everyone that understands this is scared too.

In 2019, our most prominent options for President are Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Muhammadu Buhari of the APC. I shudder to imagine Atiku Abubakar as the President and Commander in chief of the armed forces of Nigeria. I think the former Vice-president should simply enjoy being the Chancellor of ABTI American University, Yola in peace. He will be 73 years old in 2019!

I am also of the opinion that our incumbent president, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, deserves to rest. In fact, I think he should just go to Daura, Katsina state, and enjoy the peace in his country home, play with his grandchildren on vacation and walk around his farm every evening.
Now, what do we do when the options we have are not fit to be our choice?
I really wish we could do something.

Like my brother DanielNK says, “No nation became prosperous by mere wishes and no people can become prosperous by just saying ‘God will help us’”. We have to do something but I am afraid there is just a little we can do. I think we will still have to do that little in the end because our actions or inactions will affect our lives and that of our generations to come.

We need to be led by a true leader.

We need a PAUL KAGAME in Nigeria.
